Computer Recognizes Headphones and Mic, but neither work

I got a new computer and last night everything was working fine. I do not have speakers, so I use a headset. Today the audio stopped working entirely, so after troubleshooting for a while I did a system restore with no luck. I have a Realtek soundcard. When I plug in the headphones, the manager notices that I plugged it in, and asks what device I plugged in. Same thing with the microphone, and I specify which device in each case. Here are the playback devices. imgur: the simple image sharer

Here are the recording devices. imgur: the simple image sharer When I try to use Sound Recorder, it tells me I have no audio input device.

When I try to play audio files in Windows Media Player it reports: Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.

The drivers are up to date.
