I lost sound and need help

Hi, I have a hp pavillion desktop. AMD Athlonx2 running windows 7 with 6gb ram. I started my computer this morning and I have no sound. I ran the troubleshooter and it reported that windows audio wasn't running so I checked services and they are on automatic but not running so I clicked on start this service and got an error 1068 and it said that the dependency service or group failed to start. I also tried to start service on windows audio endpoint builder and got error 1722 and it said the RPC server is unavailable. Can you please help me out here. Herb1

You are looking (or starting) in the wrong area. Go to the device manager and see if there is an error (and what the code is, if there is an error). If there is no error and it shows as "working OK", check the Sound Panel, the "speakers" should be set as the default playback device.

If the speakers are set as the default playback device and it shows as working OK in the Device manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the sound in the Device Manager and then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT check the box to uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it should detect and reinstall the sound. This fixes a lot of flakey problems and may fix yours.

You are doing it right. To get rid of this error check whether these services are started and they startup type is set to Automatic
    1.Plug and Play
    2.Multimedia Class Scheduler
    3.Windows Audio Endpoint Builder

Then Start windows audio and set it to automatic like you did

EDIT: sorry didnt see you tried enbaling Windows audio endpoint builder.Disable your firewall and try to enable it to see what it does

EDIT2: My bad I forgot to tell you, try enabling Power Service
