thanks agian

The "up to date"
driver may be the problem. You may be better off with an older
driver--from Vista. But that may not work either. All you can do is try all possible Nvidia
drivers.
Stereo mix on Windows 7 can be very frustrating--much more frustrating than on Vista or XP.
If you need a new sound card, that would mean new hardware---a software download would not help. The only thing you could download would be
drivers for your existing sound card, and if that doesn't help you would need new hardware.
It has been a while since I checked, but a year or so ago the HT Omega Striker 7.1 provided Stereo Mix on Windows 7. About $75 from New Egg.
I have used an external Behringer UFO-202 USB sound card and it provides Stereo Mix on Windows 7. About $35. Amazon sells them I think.
I have heard rumors that Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi series (excluding Extreme Audio series) and Sound Blaster Audigy series (excluding Sound Blaster Audigy LE, SE, and Audigy Value) will provide Stereo Mix. I can't confirm that and I don't like Creative Labs anyway.
