Windows 7 - Realtek HD Randomly crashing

Hello.

I am using Windows 7 Build 7100 and my on-board Realtek Audio device crashes randomly.

I have updated my drivers for my Sound device to 6.0.1.5911 which I think are up to date.

What is happening is that I can be either on ventrillo, listening to music or playing a game or all 3, and randomly I get this weird whiring noise for 2-3 seconds, and then I get no sounds, and my mic stops working and to fix it I have to restart my PC. Sometimes I can go for hours with no problem, then sometimes after 2-3 minutes it crashes.

I have tried searching the internet for people with similar issues, but unable to find an answer.

The components I am using are:

Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 @ 3.82Ghz

Motherboard: Gigabyte MA790XT-UD4P

Memory: 4Gb DDR3

Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 4890


I would appreciate any answers to my issue, feel free to ask more questions if needed for me to explain a little more.

Did you downloaded drivers from realtek site?

Yes I did, and thanks for the swift response.

So it's just the onboard sound you have right? No sound card?

Bare with me, I'm trying to understand as I read onboard audio device as well as sound card..

It's not a 'proper' sound card which plugs into a Pci Slot, its on-board I think.

To try and help, whether or not it does I don't know, but i have a photo of my motherboard when I built it. You can roughly see where the USB and Ethernet ports are, as well as where the audio device is. Looking at it I guess its on-board. Thanks for your help as I'm sure you can tell already I'm not the most technical person in the world.

Ok it's an onboard device. Cool.

From realtek, these are the latest drivers.

Realtek

You do not seem to have them. Download these, remove the old ones in safe mode using driver sweeper, reboot and install these.
