Windows 7 - Windows 7 x64 kernel probs with RME Fireface 400

Greetings, i have the following problem:

Whenever i have an audio file played by Windows Media Player,Winamp,BSPlayer, or whatever player i get crackles and pops and jitters, the same goes when i run DAW (Cubase 5,Ableton 8) or when i record (SoundForge 10,WaveLab 6)

I have used some software like LatencyMon, DPC Latency Checker, Windows Performance Analyzer and i got the following results which i barely understand that are regards to the kernel (from what i was able to search and find on Google). I have a recording studio using Sonar (and working on Pro Tools). I have a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, which is a Firewire connected unit.

However, the basic pops, crackles etc need to be addressed. There are many posts on here with reports of the same problems. As you are apparently using the RME Fireface as your PC's "sound card" the firewire port would be a good place to start. Most audio vendors recommend a T.I. Firewire chip in the PC for best results. Second, many recommend using the "legacy firewire driver" rather than the native Windows firewire driver. These are two areas to start with.

In addition, if you have a wi-fi internet connection, disable that as it is a known cause of this.

First of all i'd like to thank you for your interest in this post, second i have tried with each option of the driver version regarding the IEEE 1394 meaning the standard,the legacy and the TI one version that are offered in the menu bar.

Have you seen the results of the testings that i have posted? and if you didn't please see them and let me know what you think and from where i should start. i have found a site for windows 7 optimization regarding DAWs however i think that i should go thoroughly with the information that i have.

Those screen captures don't really mean much to me. You are going to have to find someone else to decipher the resplendence readings. I and several others on the Sonar forum have gone around with that author - I'll leave it at that.

However, one thing to consider, if you have a regular PC sound card or integrated audio on the motherboard, start with that and see if you get the pops and cracks with the PC sound. If you get it with the PC sound then there is likely nothing wrong with your RME and it's something inherent in the PC. Look over the many posts here about PC sound popping and crackling or do a google search about popping crackling.
