RealTEK HD - Rear speaker distortion FIX

For rear speaker output in winamp for most of us you need to use the "speaker fill" mode , however this can cause rear speaker distortion in music , it sounds crap. However i found a fix. Download the plugin "A3D_Output_Plug-in" for winamp , go into winamp options-Output change the output from directsound to the A3D plugin.

Go into General Purpose , change to the A3D setting and config it , tweak the settings to your desire :) , mine is like this below

Reload winamp , Perfect quality sound through all speakers no more distortion and works great in vista and windows 7!

    ALSO ....

If your rear speaker output is FAR too low , don't bother going into the device manager and raising the db of the rears its not enough. Do it this way

This works especially well for quad and 4.1 systems especially when your can't raise the rear output db device manager.

Hey, what version of winamp do you use?

I tried following the directions, installed the exact same version of that A3D plugin, but I cannot find that configuration menu, all I get is "A3D General Plugin Configuration"

which allows me to check if i wanna show the plugin windows, and a hotkey to show/hide plugin and tray icon options, but then when i press the hotkey, or try to bring up the plugin window, nothing shows.

if i go to the output plugins, and click on the a3d output plugin. and click configure. i get only a buffer size option and polling delay option

    I am running STU003 A3D output-plugin v1.22 (x86) out_a3d.dll
    Winamp v5.552

I used the plugin AndrewLabs ATSurround for 5.1 surround with precise delay and volume adjustment for each speaker and it works amazingly though you need to get a key from the developer for $15. I couldn't get the AD3 configuration window to appear so was unable to use it. I can also confirm that with the Realtek ALC888 on my Biostar TA790GX 128m the speaker fill feature sounds horrible. With the fill feature active but the front speakers unplugged vocals aren't even understandable and the beat is muffled and distorted. WTF

Try using 3D Sound Back. Google for it. When u install it run exe file in VISTA SP2 compatible mode and then add winamp to the program list and enable it. If u have any questions fill free to ask.

    My Solution

Now I just set the rear speaker outputs to also output the front audio or I use this program from Gigabyte called Dolby Home Theater. It works well and allows you to adjust the levels between the front and rear speakers. It also applies some other changes to give 3D effects that can cause echoes for some music. It's found on this page.
