Hi, I am ripping my hair out trying to get 5.1 surround sound out of my PC for games like I have it on my xbox 360. Here is what I have, a 2500k pc with an
Omega Striker soundcard and a SPDIF optical cable out from that to my
home theater system (HT). The computer is windows 7 pro, 64bit.
I have successfully installed the
drivers off the cd (if I try to instal the ones off the website it hangs at the very end and never finishes) and using the omega program I set my input to 8 channels and output to SPDIF->DTS (also set to Dolby Live but that doesnt work either). In the
driver program I can test all speakers and they all work fine and my HT display will show either Dolby D or DTS depending on the setting I put it on, however when I play a game (tried Skyrim and Borderlands) it doesnt seem like the sound is going through the card and I can only get sound out of the front two speakers and my HT display doesnt go to DTS or Dolby regardless of how I set the
drivers.
If I play a tv show or movie in vlc and set it to output SPDIF I get SS and the proper sound/s come out of the rear speakers, however I cannot get it to work for any games. I have also changed the sound options to make the omega device the default so that is not the problem. In every game I've tried, I only get sound out of the front two speakers, no sound out of my rear ones, much less the positional SS I was expecting.
Can anyone please help me in my plight, 100 internets to anyone who can help me figure this out, thanks.
