According to the HP site, they do not support Vista or Win 7, only XP and Win 2000. As you need a Vista/Win 7 specific driver, there may not be any available. We see this on the Dell forum on older systems that are not supported and in most cases the user is out of luck with the built in sound. You could try using an external USB sound device that is Vista/Win 7 compatible - probably your only hope.

Generally, Windows 7 will install drivers if one is available. In many cases it will install the generic HD Audio Codec sound driver.

When you reinstalled did you reinstall the motherboard chipset drivers? (if there are any). In many cases the chipset drivers must be installed before attempting to install device drivers or the device drivers, especially sound, will not install.
