stereomix recordings and static noise

I get what sounds like static interference on recordings using stereomix. I have tried reducing the recording levels, disabled the speakers and switched off any devices which may interfere with the sound (such as my wireless router) but the static sound continues to be picked up by stereomix. Can anyone advise? Thanks

My system is as follows:-

Windows 7 (64 bit ultimate)
Mother board: ASUS M4A78T-E
Sound card (on mother board): ALC887-8
Graphics card: Asus Radeon HD 4850 1GB
Memory (RAM): Corsair Dominator XMS3 8GB
Hard drive: 1.5TB Samsung HD154UI EcoGreen
DVD drive: LiteOn IHAS224-19 24x SATA
Pioneer BD-RW BDR-205 ATA device (CD/DVD/Blue ray RW drive)
Power supply: Corsair TX 650W ATX2.2
