I lost my volume control
The volume control slider on the taskbar at the bottom right has disappeared. How do I get it back?

Wow, this is complicated. I followed your link. Open control panel. Easy. All items view? I don't see that option. I see category, large icons, small icons. I don't see a system icons icon. I messed around with the task bar, got my icon back, but I also have all the icons that used to be in a my action center spread out on my taskbar. | | My System Specs | | OS Window 7 Home Premium 64 bit

A) Control Panel\Notification Area Icons Unselect the "Always show all show all icons and notifications on the taskbar" (view attachment)

On the taskbar click the show hidden icons arrow and select "customize" 
then go through the list selecting whether to show icons and notifications or only show notifications etc to get the icons off the taskbar.
