Driver for sound won't install

Hey guys, I have a Dell Latitude D420 and every time I try to install the 'Sigmatel STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio Driver' I get an error message that reads the following:

"An error (-5003: 0x20) has occurred while running the setup."

These are the Details that you can see:

Error Code: -5003 : 0x20
Error Information:
>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1057)
PAPP:SigmaTel
PVENDOR:SigmaTel (sigmatel.com - sigma tel Resources and Information. This website is for sale!)
PGUID:A462213D-EED4-42C2-9A60-7BDD4D4B0B17
$10.1.0.238
@Windows XP Service Pack 3 (2600) BT_OTHER 232.64

I've read some places that its the program InstallShield that is the problem and to change the folder name which I have tried and still has not worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It looks like you are trying to install the Windows XP driver, which is incompatible with Vista/Win 7. Also you need to install the Dell supplied driver as we have found, on the Dell forum, that non-Dell drivers either do not work or do not work correctly. Below are links to the correct Dell downloads for Vista 64/Win 7 64.

Install the Intel motherboard chipset driver from Dell for Vista 64/Win 7 64 Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]

Then Install the Dell SigmaTel driver for Vista 64/Win 7 64 Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]
