Sound from right side only after windows wakes up When Windows awakens I have sound only from the right side. If I do a restart the sound comes from both right and left. I have reinstalled audio drivers (onboard Asus N4A78 Pro VIA). But when it falls asleep and awakens, same problem no sound from left side. I originally thought it was my 2.1 speakers and replaced them but have same problem with these. Gotta be a Windows issue. Any ideas? It only happens when Windows goes into a deep sleep. | My System Specs |

Usually, drivers are at the root of sleep problems. Update the Video drivers from the AMD site, along with the latest sound driver from Asus. I see you have reinstalled the sound driver but was it the latest as noted?
Another thing that you can try. Go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the sound device and then LEFT Click "Uninstall" (DO NOT check th box to also uninstall the drivers). Then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the Sound. Sometimes this will put the sound on a different shared IRQ (Interrupt) and fix flakey things. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number My Own Build OS Windows 7, 64 bit Home SP1, Win 8 Pro 64 bit CPU Intel i7 3770 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 16GB GSkill Ripsaw F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL Graphics Card Sapphire HD7770 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2448 Series 24" LED Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Kensington wired Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620M Modular Case Coolermaster HAF XM Cooling Corsair H80 Liquid cooling with aftermarket Nexus quiet fans Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 SSD for Win 7

I uninstalled the onboard sound like you said, Windows finds and installs it and it works fine until it falls asleep and wakes up. No sound from the left side again. The drivers I have are the latest from the Asus web site. I've looked around and played around with the device settings and the only way I can get stereo is when I restart the pc. But when it falls asleep, the same problem happens when it wakes up. I've read online where other people have had a problem with no sound after windows wakes up. But those posts were from few years ago. Maybe I'll try a separate sound card. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home made OS Windows 7 64 bit CPU AMD Phenom X4 965 3.40 GHZ Motherboard Asus M4A78 Pro Memory 8 Gigs Graphics Card ATI Radeon 5700 Sound Card Onboard Via Monitor(s) Displays Acer 21 inch PSU Thermaltake 750 Hard Drives 640 and 750 |

I don't think it's just the sound card. Video drivers as I noted have been known to cause problems. Use the latest driver for the Video card from the AMD (ATI) site.
Other than a driver, it's something to do with Windows and that would be a question for a different forum section. It's not "only" a sound problem. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number My Own Build OS Windows 7, 64 bit Home SP1, Win 8 Pro 64 bit CPU Intel i7 3770 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 16GB GSkill Ripsaw F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL Graphics Card Sapphire HD7770 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2448 Series 24" LED Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Kensington wired Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620M Modular Case Coolermaster HAF XM Cooling Corsair H80 Liquid cooling with aftermarket Nexus quiet fans Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 SSD for Win 7

My audio drivers were the latest version they had at Asus but I noticed it said Beta. So I just installed the older driver. No I'll wait and see what happens. So far so good. Sound from both speakers when Windows 7 wakes up from deep sleep. When I installed Window 7 (back in December) I went and got the latest drivers for everything I needed. I didn't notice the Audio drivers said Beta. The date on them was 2010.06.24. Long time for being Beta? Hopefully going back to the old drivers did the trick.
