When I navigate to the WDM folder, device manager is only looking for folders and I cannot select the .inf file to install the driver. How can I manually enter the location of the .inf so that I can manually install the driver?

Update: Solved that issue via search available drivers>next>have disk.

When I tried to install, I got the following error:

Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.

    Creative SoundFont Synthesiser
    The extended attributes are inconsistent.

I have the Creative SoundBlaster Live! card. Any thoughts? Thanks!

ive tried everything but cant get mine to work at all.

got the latest drivers, says its upto date, but i need to access the eax settings to change the setting etc for my 5.1 to work and its seems from what ive read that it doesnt work with windows 7.

the card is there in device manager and installed fine but i keep getting error messages saying the device has not been detected

    thanks stormy,

i've got an x-fi xtreme gamer - will i get any benefits from using danny_k drivers?

currently i'm using vanilla drivers, only problem i have with them is with fallout 3 and alchemy settings - i've tried lots of buffer/duration combinations but still get so many crashes that i hardly play that great game anymore...
Fallout 3 is a buggy game for sure but there is a patch that helps, the patch 1.7 is out now which seems to help. It's best to install that patch before playing the game.

Another problem with that game is that if you reach the Jefferson Memorial with out it being on your agenda the game will just keep crashing unless you start over again.

It's a well known problem with that game and it's fixed with the patch but once you get to the Memorial without it being on your game agenda it's hopeless and the patch will not fix that problem unless you start the game all over again. I reinstalled the game then installed the patch and it's working much better now.

i have a creative X-Fi Gamer, and have tried all the above methods of installing various different drivers... none of which have worked

i still get a buzzing sound out of my speakers, and a 'clangy' sound, is there anything else i can do to make my soundcard and speakers work with windows 7?

    Oliver welcome to the forums.

Have you done a thorough cleaning after all those driver installs? If not I would start with uninstalling anything Creative related in Programs and Features as well as uninstall the card (if still showing) in Device Manager. Then reboot and go into safe mode and use this,

    Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

to get rid of anything left. Then try just the X-Fi Support Pack 2.0. It may also take moving the card to another slot (if available) to get it to work properly (had to do just that with an Audigy 4 that had worked flawlessly in XP but started acting up when I installed Vista).

For nabilalk, what model is your SB Live (actual number on the card that will be either CTxxx or SBxxx)?

Yes it is actually (and will continue to receive support as long as Creative supports the X-Fi Xtreme Audio, as it is essentially the same as your card),

    Creative Worldwide Support

including the last driver that was released in July,

    Creative Worldwide Support

Also #1 in the first post has a link to a modded set for that card that has a little more than just the driver and the audio console.

Stormy is correct, the creative card you mentioned should be getting support for Win 7 but those creative drivers can be a real pain. Once they mess up you need to remove any and all traces of the old Creative drivers before they will work again.

This sometimes involves manually removing the old drivers because Driver Sweeper doesn't always get them all.

You can get the Win 7 drivers for Audigy SE here. Creative Worldwide Support > Audigy SE

I have the Asus Xonar D2 card and it works perfectly with the newest drivers from Asus, highly recommended.
