    Teamspeak/Vent NO Microphone

I use Teamspeak and Ventrilo, How the hell on this earth do I get my microphone to work, I mean for gods sake it should just bloody work out the box shouldn't it? Isn't Win7 geared towards gamers? It worked fine in XP no hassle it just worked, tell me pleeeeease what's changed and what the hell I need to do. Otherwise I'm gonna chew my Win7 disk to pieces when I get it.

    EDIT: i don't use a usb microphone

right click on your speaker and go to recording devices. Choose the port(W7 should detect it) that your mic is in and make it your default. Make sure your sound is registering in the level bar to the side. If not go properties for that port and adjust level and boost. Make sure vent is using the same input device. Run a test to see if you can hear yourself.

Is it always on in ventrilo? If so, go to setup and check the Use Push to talk and then assign a key or mouse button by putting your cursor in the data area and hit your key.

I did all that but could still hear my voice through the speakers, then I went into properties for the microphone, listen tab and unticked 'listen to this device' and it's now fixed!
