I changed the binary values but no effect on playback. I have the most recent drivers, 5.1 enabled and speakers work just fine in hd audio manager, but not elsewhere. Any help on this issue?

Give the OS a restart after making the changes to the binary values.

I have changed the rear and center/subwoofer to front , restart , everithing works fine.

I donno if it`s like speaker fill but sounds great.

Change the jack output from regdit. Check the first post.

Is there a way to quickly change the jack output without having to restart the PC? A .reg file of some sort.

Yes, I showed a way to change it without restarting. Check my first post on page 10.

oh, thank god for this solution. this problem kept me up until 5am last night.
i changed side port to headphones(or front speakers) and it works like charm.

anyway, this problem is pretty stupid. i didnt think that someone like realtek could have basic problem like this for so many months. it worked normaly in winXP :/

In fact, this problem is due to the lack of direct sound in the new windows architecture. Realtek does have a beta solution, which is 3D SoundBack, it restores surround but you have to assign every app you want it to work on (also, it's built for vista and must be run in compatibility mode on seven).
Nevertheless Creative have a solution to this, but you have to buy their software or one of their soundcards. I agree that Realtek should have this solved by now.

This little try-out should work, it's for all audiocards

Hey - thanks for this. I am not sure if this is what I am looking for. All I want is 2 or 3 simulataneous outputs of decent stereo sound. I can use a hardware splitter. I do not need digital audio or surround but may at some time in the near future.

Right now I have one splitter out of the rear green audio speaker output (don't go by the pic) and one cable out of the front headphones port. The problem is that when I plug in the headphone cable it shuts off the speakers. I can't find the option to disable this.

My workaround is to use software Virtual Audio Cable (VAC) but that has a lot of complications and I'd like to uninstall it.

I attached a snapshot of my audio devices, my rear audio jacks and my driver details.

Is your software or the reg settings a way of solving my issue? I guess if I can assign regular stereo output to 3 of the rear 3.5mm ports at the same time that would be ideal.
