    HP Pavilion zd8000 - Conexant AC-97 - No Sound!!

I have tried every guide and tip on the internet to try and get my stupid speakers to work on my laptop. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and have everything working on it except for the sound. I have no sound what so ever and when ever I try to click on the little speaker on the bottom right corner, a window pops up talking about troubleshooting. I am at my wits end with this stupid machine.

    Please help. Any solutions?
I am willing to try anything. The model of my PC is below.

Hi Dennin and welcome to the SevenForums!

Have you tried downloading the latest drivers? Other than that, there isn't so much what you can do. HP even warns your computer is not Vista-compatible, not to mention Windows 7.

This isn't much of a guide but some people were having problems unless this was set to DVD quality.

Thanks for the idea. Unfortunately it did not work. Any other suggestions?

My father has a HP zd8000. We had been running Windows 7 Ultimate but had to wipe it and do a fresh install of Windows 7 Professional. His audio driver worked perfectly in Ultimate but now in Professional we can not get the drivers to install or update through microsoft update. Does anyone have any clues as to why this would have worked in Ultimate but not Professional? 32bit by the way.
