Independant Headphones dont make sound after updating sound driver.

Okay, using Windows 7 I bought a new pair of headphones with a mic on it (Fatality MKII)
and started using it. I want to start using it for recording gaming and recording my voice as well as game audio too... So I got FRAPS and while using that, I would have needed to click "External Audio Device" but it says it cannot detect it. so I had to update my sound driver. Before this i managed to get my headphones and mic to work so that "Independent Headphones" was the only that was enabled in the "Playback" tab and my "External mic" was the only one enabled in the "Recording" tab.
However, after updating "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC" now I can only listen through speakers using "Speakers and Headphones" enabled and when i disable it and enable "Independent Headphones" it doesn't playback any sound...
This is really frustrating me, so thank you in advance
