No Sounds/Creative Labs X-Fi....Again I had to do a reinstall/image restore and suddenly I have no sound when using my Creative X-Fi card. I tried driver updates, cleaning out ALL of my creative drivers then reinstalling them, and the 2.5 support pack I read about in another thread and nothing's worked. I running Windows X64, any ideas?? | My System Specs |

Did you install any motherboard chipset drivers? If not give that a try and then the sound card drivers. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number My Own Build OS Windows 7, 64 bit Home SP1, Win 8 Pro 64 bit CPU Intel i7 3770 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 16GB GSkill Ripsaw F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL Graphics Card Sapphire HD7770 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2448 Series 24" LED Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Kensington wired Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620M Modular Case Coolermaster HAF XM Cooling Corsair H80 Liquid cooling with aftermarket Nexus quiet fans Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 SSD for Win 7

I ran Speccy to get my motherboard information and it said I have an Asus Aspire M5910 -Intel revision 11, but on the Asus site it says Intel chipset version 9 so I'm a bit confused. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Gateway FX6840 OS Windows 7 CPU Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.80 Motherboard Gateway FX6840 Memory 8GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 5770 Sound Card Creative XB - X-FI Monitor(s) Displays 26in Samsung Syncmaster 2693 Hard Drives Seagate ST310000528AS

Those may be two different items.
One of the prime things the chipset drivers do is define (identify) all the devices on the motherboard. On many systems the chipset drivers must be installed BEFORE the sound drivers.
Also, since you are using a separate sound card, make sure you Integrated (on the motherboard audio - if you have it) is disabled in the BIOS so it does not conflict with the SoundBlaster.
It may not be this, but its a good place to start. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number My Own Build OS Windows 7, 64 bit Home SP1, Win 8 Pro 64 bit CPU Intel i7 3770 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 16GB GSkill Ripsaw F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL Graphics Card Sapphire HD7770 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2448 Series 24" LED Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Kensington wired Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620M Modular Case Coolermaster HAF XM Cooling Corsair H80 Liquid cooling with aftermarket Nexus quiet fans Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 SSD for Win 7

I just said screw it and bought an Asus Xonar DG sound and it's not working either. I've checked all the usual stuff, mute connections, device manager and can see a problem. My onboard sound works if it's enabled, but the card won't work. I called asus and the guy(who didn't seem very bright suggested that it might not be compatible with my ACER board, but I can't find any info regarding that. I doesn't seem like that would be the case especially seeing that the creative card didn't work either. Everything was fine before the image backup soundwise so I don't think the PCI port went bad.
So....not I REALLY don't know what to think. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Gateway FX6840 OS Windows 7 CPU Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.80 Motherboard Gateway FX6840 Memory 8GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 5770 Sound Card Creative XB - X-FI Monitor(s) Displays 26in Samsung Syncmaster 2693 Hard Drives Seagate ST310000528AS

What does the Device Manager show for the sound card? An error code or "working properly"?
I've seen several posts of problems with that ASUS Xonar sound card so I'm not sure about them. I think they use a C-Media chipset/ driver the same as my HT Omega Striker 7.1 PCI Sound Card. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number My Own Build OS Windows 7, 64 bit Home SP1, Win 8 Pro 64 bit CPU Intel i7 3770 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 16GB GSkill Ripsaw F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL Graphics Card Sapphire HD7770 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2448 Series 24" LED Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Kensington wired Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620M Modular Case Coolermaster HAF XM Cooling Corsair H80 Liquid cooling with aftermarket Nexus quiet fans Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 SSD for Win 7

I was having too many problems from the backup so I just did a clean install with the Asus card and everything's going smoothly. I just looked at the big picture. The fact of the matter is I've had consistent problems with creative drivers since vista. I just got tired of the hassle of wondering if my drivers would work if/when I did a clean install or image restore. I like the fact that I installed and set up the asus drivers in about 2 minutes with no issues at all. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Gateway FX6840 OS Windows 7 CPU Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.80 Motherboard Gateway FX6840 Memory 8GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 5770 Sound Card Creative XB - X-FI Monitor(s) Displays 26in Samsung Syncmaster 2693 Hard Drives Seagate ST310000528AS
