Those may be two different items.
One of the prime things the chipset drivers
do is define (identify) all the devices on the motherboard. On many systems the chipset drivers must be installed BEFORE the sound drivers.
Also, since you are using a separate sound card, make sure you Integrated (on the motherboard audio - if you have it) is disabled in the BIOS so it does not conflict with the SoundBlaster.
It may not be this, but its a good place to start.
