You can extend the display so that it appears over both displays, right click on the desktop and choose screen resolution.
i have extended it and still no hdmi optiom for sound in playback menu

Why don't you try and only use the DVI cable and select the PC option on your TV and the sound should then work providing you are actually using a DVI cable and not a AVG cable.

Do you have the audio cables that you use to connect sound from a monitor to a pc, if so use a VGA cable and then use an audio cable to connect the pc to the TV then you will get sound. If you cannot do that then I can do no more for you, so farewell.

i would not like to buy another cables if i had this one supposed to be working.

well i have read another topics about these hdmi sound issues and i might have found something.
a guy claims it is nvidia bug and suggests an older deiver version

and if it does not work i might as well search more on win7 and if cannot get anithing i can switch back to win xp and give it a try.

thanks for your time

hi there

i would like to give you a review how far i got

1) connection of internal spdif :

according to this link:
Guide: 8800GT/9800GT/9800GTX Sound over HDMI (Now including Creative cards)

you can see on the middle of this thread that the ground should be on the left and the spdf should be on the right
on the video card connector side.

but according to this thread:
光學觸控螢幕、客製化主機板、顯示卡及驅動程式、伺服器記憶體(Optical Touch Mon
the ground (black) is on the right and the signal is on the left of the video card connector part.
so i am confused now.

2) my video card is only connected to the tv and i can get a fine picture. i disconnected the speaker cable and the dvi cable from my monitor coz they were suggested to be. i also clicked the checkbox in the sound/playback setting
to see disconnected and disabled devices yet still no hdmi playback can be seen.

3) nvida can detect my sound somehow :

Képfeltöltés.hu - korlátlan ingyen tárhely képeidnek, regisztráció nélkül

but if i select lg tv and then click apply on the bottom stlll nothing appears in the sound playback,
only these two:

http://kepfeltoltes.hu/120616/device...toltes.hu_.jpg

by the way on this picture u can also check my device manager and might suggest anything about it.

so i think my problem is related to either sound or video card driver issues or both. but rather only to sound driver issue since nvidia ctrl panel detects my tv.

my video card: galaxy geforce 8800 gt with dvi/hdmi/s-video
my mobo : ASUS P5B Premium which has this sound integrated: ADI AD1988B

4) i found other threads suggesting to disable windows update and install an older driver
yet another one suggested to let just windows do the job

any ideas or help would be much appreciated. thanks.

SOLVED.

The problem was a setting on the TV.

I really dont know if spdif internal cable is needed. but i thinks so.
I read a thread that the internal crossover cable was labelled wrong for someone, so right now
the GND (ground) end is plugged to the spdif (signal) and signal end is plugged to the GND (ground) on the mobo.
So yourinternal cable might be labelled properly, either way you have 4 connecting options, coz u still have 2 options for the video card to connect to.

So back to the TV. i only set up HDMI and left it that way when i connected the tv with the video card. But then i saw there are other options to select on the input menu of the tv.
So i got into another menu inside the connection menu and i could choose PC.
And it works fine now.

No HDMI output came out in windows sound playback options, i switched to spdif output.

I have not messed with drivers, i have latest mobo, nvidia drivers. i have not switched back.
