With everything that has been tried, I would suspect a hardware problem on the motherboard.

Yes I believe that is more than likely the culprit. I got an RMA back to newegg. One last question though fire. If you google "Microphone Volume Low on Windows 7" there are threads that have 40,000+ hits on them with thousands of people with different motherboards experiencing this problem, I dont get it

There can be more than one problem. With what you went through and nothing changed it seems to be the hardware.
