Surround sound, where have you been all my life?
You know, people can change. Attitudes can change. Mine has ... regarding having surround sound on my PC, that is.
Just recently my Yamaha speakers that I've had for 15 years suddenly decided to fritz out on me. So I did some research, and decided, what the heck, and bought a Logitech X-540 5.1 setup.
Whoa, am I so glad I did! It's almost hard for me to believe that my attitude used to be, "Meh, surround on my computer? Not important."
Not that I haven't had any exposure to surround sound, of course. We have a home theater in our living room, but it seems like it gets used more for regular TV viewing as opposed to watching the latest Hollywood titles (although we have watched a few movies on it).
Nevertheless, a great upgrade. Music, movies, and games sound great. For the price I think they sound really good -- hard to believe they were under $100. Easy to set up, and that subwoofer makes the whole room shake. I've got my Xbox 360 hooked up to it, and it comes with a supplied adapter that makes it real easy, but I'm using a different method because I can't use that and the HDMI cable at the same time.
Granted, I admit that much higher-end options are out there, but for an average shmuck like myself, it's perfectly fine.
Just felt like sharing. Anybody else here have a similar audio revelation?
