IDT 92xx makes me cry. Cannot select 5.1-

Right, I've been running around trying lots of different drivers. All have the same effect.

So, I've stuck with the official XP/Vista drivers as I cannot find ones for W7 (Intel® Desktop Board DG965RY)

    So, problem:

When I select 5.1 or quad it flicks straight back to Stereo. I'm currently using my speakers using Line in and Dolby Pro logic.

I hope someone can help me with this issue, it's starting to get annoying :s.

(image of IDT audio panel, this is the option that resets to Stereo soon as I click 5.1 or quad)

    -edit

Current driver version : Sigmatel STAC 92xx No Recording Devices (Windows 7 x64)
    same as muffins :)

    -edit part 2

Seems using the control panel at all disables my ability to use Line in/headphones :s

Cannot set speakers to default sound devices, the button just does nothing

    Do I
    Do I
    Do I
Or do I wonder who they pay to release drivers ...

So, with just the MS driver I cannot select 5.1 in control panel

With IDT Audio the IDT control panel (while looking new and shiny I'll admit) doesn't work. But, using there drivers enables me to use windows control panel to setup 5.1 !!!

    Anyways, problem fixed...

    /close ...

Shame I won't have any of the advanced settings though.

Hello, I'm having the same issue using Windows 7 64-bit. I have the IDT audio panel not working for 5.1 as you, but can test all speakers on Windows control panel speak setup. But when I listen to a mp3 or watch a movie I only get sound on the two front speakers. How did you fix it?

Oh, nevermind. I forgot to mark the dolby pro logic option. How dumb of me!

I have an Intel DG965RY motherboard also.

I believe I saw a notice on Intel.com that Intel would not be providing Windows 7 drivers for this board and that it is no longer supported--it's only 3 years old.

My issue with the board is that I am unable to record streaming audio (what you hear over speakers) in Windows 7, when this capability WAS available in Vista with the same board.

My only idea is to try Vista drivers.

You could use the drivers for vista. Then, if you want the latest one, make an update of the driver using the device manager.

    AUD_allOS_D20001.0x_PV_IDTGUI_v105_Legacy

This is the driver I am currently using.

If your just using headset + mic this seems to work perfectly for jack configuration etc.

But for 5.1 you need to ignore the control panel and change to 5.1 in Control Panel...

Was the only work around I could find, but my 5.1 speakers blew recently so not to bothered anymore lol.

Ironic that they blew a day after neighbors complained about noise *_*

    -edit

same driver as I linked above (well linked the post). Not sure why Intel say there not going to support win7 drivers for that board. Is a Core2Duo board considered dead by Intel now?

sam86 how did u mark the dolby pro logic option???
btw when u install idt u cant set 5.1 from idt menu but u can set 5.1 frm control panel>sound>speakers>configuration but the it will only use all 5 speakers when u r playing dts 5.1 audio/video otherwise it will use only two front speakers to play stereo audio/video...to play stereo audio/video on all 5 speakers u hv to goto control panel>sound>speakers>properties>enhancements and tick the option of speaker fill...
