    Latitude e5410 Stereo mix problems

    Hi,

I want to record system sounds with audacity, or be able to record usb mic input with game sound simultaneously.
I've been trying for quite some time to enable stereo mix on my computer. From the suggestion of many help sites, I went to sounds>recording and made it show disabled and disconnected devices, but it wasn't there.

I have read that some computers were built without stereo mix, so is there any way around that? I've begun finding solutions with drivers and such, but as a newbie to that field, I'm going to need some help.

    Thanks!

I used to do a lot of support on the Dell forum. There were some models that the system mixer was not incorporated into the drivers. Usually, Dell sound drivers are needed, but you may want to try a different driver just to see.
The Dell driver is an IDT 92HDxxx HD Audio and all the drivers I find doing a search just lead back to Dell.

You could uninstall the Dell and try the generic "HD Audio Codec" that Windows installs and see if that works.

Or try the generic IDT drivers IDT AUDIO Drivers Download

Before you do anything, set a System Restore point so you can fall back with System Restore if whatever you try doesn't work.

No luck. The HD audio codec was essentially the same as the dell driver, and the IDT didn't work on my computer. Thanks though.
