    Dolby Enhancements Tab is missing

After getting my Toshiba laptop, I checked the speaker properties. I did this by right clicking the speaker icon on the taskbar and clicking on playback devices. Then on the resulting window, I double clicked on speakers (My default playback device). In the next window, there was an tab called Enhancements where I could select effects like virtual surround soung, bass boost and loudness equalizer.

I recently formatted my computer and since I got it back that tab is missing. Instead of the Enhancements tab there is another tab called Dolby. Under this tab there is just 2 options that i can tick; Audio Enhancer and Disable all enhancements.

Is there any way I can get back the enhancement tab that I had before because the effects in that tab really helped improve the sound quality of my laptop? Is it something wrong with my drivers?

I tried updating my sound card driver but it still did not work.

Here are my specifications of my laptop if that helps:

    Toshiba Satellite L655-PSK1JE05R00XAR
    Core i5-450M 2.4 GHz
    3GB RAM
My sound card driver is Conexant CX20671 SmartAudio HD

I need some help with this problem

    Thanks!!

Are you using the Toshiba supplied sound driver? If not, give that a try. Non-Vendor drivers sometimes either do not work, do not work correctly or do not have all the options.

BTW, I tried to look up that model and the number doesn't come up on the Toshiba site. There is no L655-P model listed.

I notice there is a "Value Added Package" download, whatever that is. Maybe that includes the extra sound enhancements ???

If not, I would sent a query to Toshiba support about it.

Not the same problem, but related: Recently the music from my computer has been sounding terrible - muffled and booming bass with no clarity, no matter how I adjust my home stereo setting. Maybe this was only since I installed Windows 10, but I suspect a little before that. Anyway, I just found this tab and after unchecking Audio Enhancer and Surround Sound, it suddenly sounds amazing! It's terrible having a dubious "enhancement" like this hidden away so deep in the sound properties.
