scrath noises from speakers I have these annoying noises(scrathes) on my speakers, only during startup and shutdown. All windows sounds are disabled but i still get them (noises) everytime i boot or close the machine.Have this case over a year without any probs. It all began by changing motherboard and processor a couple of weeks ago.Same PSU,same cables to speakers ,monitor, power cords.Any thoughts? | My System Specs |

With the new motherboard, did you install the motherboard vendor's chipset and sound drivers? If not, give that a try as the vendor's sound drivers are usually the best.
It could just be when the sound driver is installed during startup and when its unloaded (disabled) on shutdown, too. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number My Own Build OS Windows 7, 64 bit Home SP1, Win 8 Pro 64 bit CPU Intel i7 3770 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 16GB GSkill Ripsaw F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL Graphics Card Sapphire HD7770 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2448 Series 24" LED Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Kensington wired Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620M Modular Case Coolermaster HAF XM Cooling Corsair H80 Liquid cooling with aftermarket Nexus quiet fans Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 SSD for Win 7

Thank you very much for the quick reply.Forgive my ignorence, how do i obtain those vendors drivers?
While waiting for response, went to ASUS site, downloaded audio drivers(BETA unfortunately),installed, helped(did cut noise by 50%),but still there as an issue.

That points to the motherboard/drivers or how the sound initializes at startup and how the sound closes at shutdown.
One one system I have (with an Intel motherboard), I get a pop when Windows starts and the sound drive is loaded. I have all system sounds disabled as I used this system for my recording studio. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number My Own Build OS Windows 7, 64 bit Home SP1, Win 8 Pro 64 bit CPU Intel i7 3770 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 16GB GSkill Ripsaw F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL Graphics Card Sapphire HD7770 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2448 Series 24" LED Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Kensington wired Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620M Modular Case Coolermaster HAF XM Cooling Corsair H80 Liquid cooling with aftermarket Nexus quiet fans Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 SSD for Win 7

Had the same issue for atleast 12 weeks.
I solved it by muting the CD player below the text 'playback' in the Mixer. You can also try to mute the line-in.

Good luck! | My System Specs | | |
