    Xfi Xtreme Gamer , thoughts?

I don't have much dosh after buying this 24" screen but i really need to replace this POS realtek hd onboard with a good soundcard. I do have the Xtreme Audio but i was not impressed to find out it is a fake xfi with no hardware acceleration

Anyhoo i have about £50-60 to spend , does anyone here have the xfi gamer? is it good with games and perhance whats it like in windows 7?

    Thankyou

I have the gamer card but I did not install the 7 beta yet so can't tell you from experience. I saw several people on guru3d forums claiming they got X-Fi to run under 7 using the original X-Fi drivers for Vista - guess that's in the compatibility mode. These drivers were also hacked by one guy already so that they are recognized by Win 7 without the compatibility mode. If I was to buy today I would go for the Titanium though - it is the real PCI-e - unlike any other PCI-e sound card. They all use the PCI to PCI-e bridge and only the X-Fi Titanium is the real thing. I am sure it will be fully supported in 7 - it is the newest card from soundblaster.

I just got the X-Fi Gamer at the weekend to replace the bundled 'so called' X-Fi card with my board. Worth every penny! :)

I used Daniel K's driver set to install under Win7, works a charm, and sounds brilliant.
