Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset - Mic Issues

Hello,

I just purchased a Fatal1ty Gaming Headset (jacks, not USB) from newegg.com and for some reason i cant get the mic to work. I've browsed these forums for a few hours now looking for an answer but I cant seem to find anything that works for me. I've feel like I've tried everything. The computer only recognizes the mic build into my computer, which is just picking up white noise from my fan (hence the mic)

My computer is a Macbook Pro 17" (Bootcamped Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit)

The Stereo Mix should be set as the default recording device (then whatever is plugged in you should hear). When you plug in the headset, does it show the microphone as connected? (or whatever yours states for an active device).

You can click on a device and get another panel which has a volume control for the device.

The Stereo mix has been set as the default but still it isnt picking anything up. All the levels are turned up all the way too. When the mic is unplugged, the "Line-In" says disconnected.

Does the Fact that have Realtek Sound Drivers matter, seeing as it's a Creative headset?

What sound card you have shouldn't make a difference. If you plug in the mic, does it show as ready or whatever it says for an active input? You don't want the Line In, you want the mic input. A computer mic requires 5VDC to operate and that is available on the mic jack. The line is is a stereo input for "line" signals and does not have the 5VDC that a mic requires.

I don't know how a MAC is setup, but on Windows PC's, there are front panel headphone and mic jacks (the mic jack can also be a combination mic/line in jack on some). In those where its a combination jack, some automatically detect what is plugged in and on others it has to be set in a control panel for the sound module (e.g. RealTek).
