Also, I have that same FLV player, but I rarely use it. I get much better control over playback from Media Player Classic that comes with K-Lite codec pack. With that player, I can step thru frame by frame in most FLV files.

Yep, opinions vary on what it best to use and I'm not attempting to talk you into installing Malwarebytes.. but I will say that you might want to clarify with this person if they object to the free version or the professional version of Malwarebytes. The free version does not run all of the time.

If you hang around this forum long enough, you will see people suggesting a few different antivirus tools. But when troubleshooting problems, I suggest that people uninstall their security apps - install Microsoft Security Essentials for the antivirus/anti-malware - install Malwarebytes and use Microsoft's firewall. After the problem is fixed, they can go back to whatever security tools makes them happy.

That said, you don't have a problem - you just have a security tool doing its job. Dal with the file that it is warning you about and your "problem" is solved.

BTW, because of the way that the forum puts posts on multiple pages, please scan thru the first page to make sure that you saw all of my ramblings

    Issue Resolved

Thank you so much Username Issues!

I totally missed that the error was caused by ADWARE.exe which has nothing to do with Lavasoft's AdAware program.

I haven't heard a single beep since I deleted the file. Still it is very strange that the warnings just started a few days ago considering that the FLV player had been on the computer since November.

Thanks for letting me know how to see all your replies, I didn't see them at first!

My son installed the FLV player for some editing he needed to do. I don't do much if any video editing, but I will keep the Media Player Classic in mind.

I hope that you just have a typo in your post.

I hope that you deleted this file:
    C:\Users\Tangledbloom\Downloads\FLVPlayerSetup.exe.

Or better yet - next time - let the security app get rid of it for you.

The list of things that these security programs consider "bad" changes with every update. It is possible that the installation file for the FLV player app was not listed as "bad" back in November. Most likely, that installation file was just recently deemed as annoying by the security software that flagged it. Or your security app(s) recently started flagging a class of "bad" called "Potentially unwanted Programs" (PuP).

I'm sorry I didn't mean to be confusing! I just meant that when I saw the warning from Avira: Virus or unwanted program 'ADWARE/InstallCore.1.40 [adware]' detected in file 'C:\Users\Tangledbloom\Downloads\FLVPlayerSetup.exe, I focused on the ADWARE and immediately thought it had something to do with a conflict between Avira and AdAware.

When you sent your post to me, I realized the conflict was with the FLV Player file. Yes I did delete the file C:\Users\Tangledbloom\Downloads\FLVPlayerSetup.exe. And it did resolve my issue, because my computer hasn't beep a single time since then! Thanks again for your help!
