| Windows 7: No sound when waking PC from sleep. |

No sound when waking PC from sleep. I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I just recently decided to start trying to put my PC to sleep rather than just let it run constantly when I'm not using it, and found that when I resume it, even if it's IMMEDIATELY after putting it to sleep, there is no sound.
The only "fix" I've found is to either reboot, or (the quicker method) is to disable and enable the sound card in device manager. Sound then immediately returns.
Obviously this is far from ideal and I'd love for it to just function properly. Any ideas? My sound is onboard Realtek HD audio on a Biostar A770E3 motherboard.
Thanks everyone. | My System Specs |

Generally, problems with sleep are device drivers. Check with Biostar to see if they have an updated RealTek sound driver (the sound driver from the motherboard vendor usually works best). | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number My Own Build OS Windows 7, 64 bit Home SP1, Win 8 Pro 64 bit CPU Intel i7 3770 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 16GB GSkill Ripsaw F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL Graphics Card Sapphire HD7770 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2448 Series 24" LED Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Kensington wired Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620M Modular Case Coolermaster HAF XM Cooling Corsair H80 Liquid cooling with aftermarket Nexus quiet fans Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 SSD for Win 7

I've used both the most recent driver on the Biostar site and the most recent driver from Realtek, both with the same issue. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb Motherboard Biostar A770E3 Memory 12GB Graphics Card Radeon HD 7850 Overclock Edition Sound Card Realtek HD onboard Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Mouse Mionix NAOS 3200 PSU 750W |

Other than the video card, I'd make sure that you have all BIOS start drivers for the devices to start with. Get the latest video card Catalyst Control Center and driver from AMD.
As you can disable/enable in the Device Manager, suggests a corruption between Windows and the sound device. One thing to try, RIGHT click on the entry for the RealTek and then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT check the box to uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound. If there was any type of Windows corruption for the sound this will correct that. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number My Own Build OS Windows 7, 64 bit Home SP1, Win 8 Pro 64 bit CPU Intel i7 3770 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 16GB GSkill Ripsaw F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL Graphics Card Sapphire HD7770 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2448 Series 24" LED Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Kensington wired Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620M Modular Case Coolermaster HAF XM Cooling Corsair H80 Liquid cooling with aftermarket Nexus quiet fans Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 SSD for Win 7

I THINK I got it all sorted out.
What I ended up doing was uninstalling the latest drivers, which include Realtek's HD Audio Manager. Then in device manager, I scanned for new hardware and it installed my sound card as simply "High Definition Audio Device", and I just put the PC to sleep, woke it up and still had sound.
I can only assume their latest driver and/or audio manager is just terrible and was somehow causing the problem. And seeing as how my sound works just great without that driver, I'll just leave things this way and see how it works out. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb Motherboard Biostar A770E3 Memory 12GB Graphics Card Radeon HD 7850 Overclock Edition Sound Card Realtek HD onboard Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Mouse Mionix NAOS 3200 PSU 750W |

There is some type of conflict between the RealTek driver and your Windows install as it is not happening with ALL RealTek systems (I'm using RealTek). However, the generic windows installed HD Audio Codec is only a "basic function" driver and in many cases the opposite of you, it will cause problems. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number My Own Build OS Windows 7, 64 bit Home SP1, Win 8 Pro 64 bit CPU Intel i7 3770 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 16GB GSkill Ripsaw F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL Graphics Card Sapphire HD7770 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2448 Series 24" LED Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Kensington wired Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620M Modular Case Coolermaster HAF XM Cooling Corsair H80 Liquid cooling with aftermarket Nexus quiet fans Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 SSD for Win 7
