    Playing Wav Files

    Hello,

In the past I have used a small exe to play a selected wav file without opening any Media Player. All I would have to do is associate the wav with WinPlayAny.exe, right click on a wav, and select play. The wav would play but no program would be visible.

With windows 7 I cannot get this to work?

Does anyone know or a replacement program or other way to accomplish this with Windows 7?

    Thank You

    Try this PlayWav
Also here is the user manual for it PlayWav User's Manual
If it does not work the 1st time, right click it and go to compatibility and choose "run this program in compatibility mode for windows xp service pack 3.

on the start menu, there's an entry for "Default Programs"

click on it and select the second entry in the list that appears..

scroll down until you find wav. in the list, and make Windows Media Player the default program associated with the wav. format..

    Thank You Very Much.

And you are correct. I'd prefer no program to open and no program to close .. Just something very light like the file I posted which won't work no matter what compatibility mode I select any more? I've used it for many years.

These links are not working for me. I will do a Google search and see what I can find.

Thank You Again & I'll post my results later.

IF the links are not working i can manually upload it:)
I attached the PlayWav, and for the user's manual i will upload a notepad with the manual.
Just tested PlayWav on my windows 7 machine using a wav file and it worked fine. Probably not exactly as you asked for, because it does open up a command prompt to play it, and then when it finishes the CMD windows closes:/ Then again, i myself did not follow the user manual, i set it up as a guess that i figured would be correct.

    Thanks

This program kinda works. It opens a dos window then shuts it after playing the wav. If I find anything better I'll post it.

    Thanks Again

Supposedly this WV Player (formerly Wav Player) works with 32bit versions of windows, seeing that you have this version maybe give it a whirl :)
