New mobo, new install, no sound Hi!
My Motherboard blew up a last week and I replaced it with a new ASUS P5G41T-M LX PLUS. I've installed windows 7 64 bit and everything is fine but the sound...
The Realtek audio Manager tells me there is speakers and Mic plugged in the front panel wich is false... and I get no sound on front or rear plugs. It doesn't detects when I plug in the rear ends.
I've tried uninstalling drivers and reinstall the drivers from ASUS and from realtek. Always the same.
Any ideas why it tells me there is something plugged in front panel but there is nothing plugged there and I get no sound? This is weird...
Thanks|! | My System Specs |

Welcome to Seven Forums kylegap. If you disconnect the 10 pin front panel audio connector (lower rear of MB), does the Realtek audio manager still say the front panel ports are in use, or can you now get audio from the rear? Yes, the 10 pin front panel audio connector (lower rear of MB) is disconnected and still, it tells me there is speakers and a mic plugged in front and I can't get sound. Even if I plug somthing on the back, it's not detected at all and no sound... any idea? | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 64 bit CPU Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz Motherboard ASUSTeK Computer INC. See if the suggestion/settings pictured in Cata's posts in this thread have any effect. Realtek falsely detects headphones in front panel
I'm afraid I don't have the Realtek audio manager myself. Yeah, I've already seen that thread and tried everything there... but that guy is getting sound, which I'm not... Mine doesn't detects anything when I plug. It always tells me there is a MIC and Speakers on the front panel and that there is nothing plugged in the back... even though I'm plugging it.
I've just tried a fresh install on another hard drive and tried the sound in the first round but still doing the same thing.
So, I'm getting to the point I think there is a hardware problem... sucks cause it's brand new... | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 64 bit CPU Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz Motherboard ASUSTeK Computer INC. Thanks A Guy. I've filled the help form from ASUS website as well.
It simply doesn't detects my speakers, mic or headphones when I plug them.
It tells me that there is something plugged on front panel only when I configure the AC97 on the front panel in the Realtek Audio Manager... | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 64 bit CPU Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz Motherboard ASUSTeK Computer INC. Try connecting the HD Audio cable for the front panel.
Go to Control Panel Sounds and make sure Realtek HD Audio is set as the default sound device.
In the Realtek Manager, try changing the settings in the snip around and see if there is any change.
