Problems with windows 7 and Sony AMP setup

I have my PC setup to use my monitor and PC speakers for PC gaming and I also have an hdmi out to my TV via a SONY Surround SOund AMP which controls the TV and sound.

If I turn off my PC and set the AMP to the AUX port for the PC and boot it identifies the video and audio fine and will support sound properly. However If I turn off or change the input for the AMP to the PS3 hdmi and than go back to the PC input windows wont play sounds over the device unless I reboot. It's like it loses connectivity and cant recapture it.

Is there a way to force it to re-identify or enable the AMP once again or do I have to reboot again to get this to work each time?

Generally, if an HDMI cable is plugged into the PC it will default to the HDMI as the "default audio playback device". If you want the PC's speakers, in these cases, you have to either disconnect the HDMI cable or go to the Sound panel and set the "speakers" (your sound card) as the default playback device. You should be able to select which output you want in this panel without having to reboot.
