Hi. I have 2 laptops with different Realtek HD audio managers. No problems with sound. The problem is Realtek HD audio manager with yellow folder allows me to chose how to get sound-either from headphone or from built in speakers. Laptop with Realtek HD audio manager without yellow folder needs remove headphone from jack to listen sound from built in speakers. How I can add that folder to manager. See attached pictures. Thank you.
There are different RealTek managers, which are customized by the PC vendor (or the motherboard vendor in the case of a home built/custom built). e.g. my RealTek HD manager, which was supplied by my motherboard vendor (Gigabyte) only has basic functions (no EQ for example) as they also supply the Creative SoundBlaster Xfi MB software enhancement add on that does have the EQ functions and others.
The custom implementation is also the reason the vendors' sound driver is preferred. Non Vendor drivers in many cases either do not work or do not work correctly (or won't install).
Thank you Fireberd for reply. It means that Realtek manager appearance and functionality depends on hardware? I can not customize it? :-(
Generally, the vendor will implement the (in this case) RealTek sound manager for what they want or how they have configured the hardware. If you go to the chip vendor's sites such as IDT, RealTek, etc some do not even have drivers and just state that they supply the hardware and the vendor that implements the hardware is responsible to provide whatever is needed for the hardware and supporting software. One of the sound chip vendor's (I don't remember which one) has a driver but they too qualify that with the statement that the vendor specific driver (and associated software) should be used.
You can try different drivers other than your PC Vendor's drivers, some may work, some may not work or install and others may work but not correctly. Its a "take your chance". If you try other drivers, create a system restore point before installing (or attempting) them so you can can recover back to where you were before the install in case they do not work or mess things up.
Then I will ask my main question again. Is it possible switch between built in speakers and headphones with mouse click? Without removing and inserting to jack? I searched web but could not find solution. :-( Thanks.
The only possible way (and even this may not work) that I can see is if you have both "Speakers" and "Headset" as listed playback devices in the Sound panel and can switch between them there.
