I have looked at multiple threads here on this site as well as others and am still struggling to get my HDMI audio out to work. It was working for me for over a year, I decided to restore my laptop back to factory settings due to a virus and now I cant get the audio out to work anymore.
I have used the Catalyst Control Center to update my drivers
on the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 and that worked fine. Used the Auto detect to install the drivers. My windows updates are all up to date, have tried going to the device manager and uninstalling/ reinstalling both High Definition Audio Controllers and that hasnt fixed it. I have tried restarting the computer with the HDMI cable plugged in, not plugged in, plugged in with the screen extended, not extended, etc. and still no luck. Have tried unplugging and re plugging in the hdmi cord, have changed hdmi cords as well.
I think this may be due to the fact that when I first plugged in the hdmi and connected to the TV it asked if it wanted to connect using DVI and I said yes... Since I believe DVI does not carry sound this could be the reason why it still says unplugged?
Is there a way to "forget" the settings and re discover the TV so I can not use DVI?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
