Windows 7: Clicking sound at end of audio

When a sound plays on the computer, it makes a funny clicking noise at the end of it almost like it has got stuck- The problem can be temporary solved by changing the audio settings but when you log off and back on the problem still persists.

Any ideas?

Does it on several different machines!

More info is needed for someone to try and help you. Fill in the My System Specs so we know what hardware you are having the problem with. You say several different machines, are they all the same hardware or different? Also, is this with ANY audio file or only certain ones or types? Also with any media player?

The computer I am currently using is using a creative SB X-FI sound card, and the others are using: Realtek High Definition Audio. The hardware between the machines is different. Seems to be a windows 7 issue as it did not do this when they were all running XP.

All the machines are Windows 7. It does it with the windows default sounds, Streaming radio, Sounds within powerpoint to name a few.

Tje Creatove SB Xfi Sound card is NOT your Computer, just the sound card that is in it. likewise the RealTek in the others.

First thought, reinstall (or install) the correct sound drivers for each system. e.g. the SB Xfi, make sure you are using the correct Windows 7 specific drivers from Creative. Same way with the systems with RealTek, install each PC Vendor's RealTek Win 7 driver. The vendor drivers work best.

If you checked using Windows, that isn't always correct, its just what Windows has for the device not always the correct driver from the Vendor, even with SoundBlaster.

With "all" PC's doing the same thing with at least two different sound hardware it has to be something else common, such as other programs that are running at the same time.

One other thought, the PC with the SoundBlaster, if this also has integrated (on the motherboard) audio, is it disabled in the BIOS? If not give that a try with this one PC
