Windows 7: Weird startup and shutdown sound; I can't disable nor figure its cause

maybe not. It is a sound controllable with the speaker volume, which lasts about 2 seconds.

If it is thru the speakers, then it is different. I was just thinking about the HDDs revving up and down because I hear that in my Dell box which is sitting on my desk next to me.
