Xonar will not work in new build

I don't know where my last thread went with this but my Xonar DG sound card will not work in the Asus p8Z77-V board. I have tried setting the BIOS updating the BIOS the chipset the whatever and I have even heard back - eventually form Asus in Taiwan to try putting in the new BIOS etc etc etc.

Frankly I am getting very tired of this after a week of trying to get the thing to go, and it has been one thing after another. I just don't know what to try next the whole darn thing is so convoluted and just about impossible to follow.

Now short of changing the brand of board I shall just have to stick with the onboard audio which is so disappointing.
    Any other ideas please.

If the Xonar is PCI (not PCIe), many of the newer motherboards do not have a true PCI slot, but just a bridged PCI slot from the PCIe bus. Some PCI devices will not work or work correctly in this type of PCI slot.

I see a lot of problems with the bridged PCI slots on audio recording forums.

Thanks for that FB that would explain why this nonsense is happening. Why Asus support did not let me know this Is pretty weak. So in essence one cannot use a sound card in this board and seeing the card is an Asus one is telling me that maybe I have not mad a good choice in the board

Maybe I should have waited and researched it a bit more.

If that is the problem, you would need a PCIeX1 sound card.

The Xonar DGX which is a PCIex card may work for you then, if as fireberd suggests that could be the problem.
