I've gone on a few threads regarding this problem, and finally decided to start a unique one that would declare the Bluetooth capability of Sony Vaio w/Windows 7 64 bit- Bluetoothless.
Hopefully someone with more knowledge than I will be compelled to come forward with the big secret, if there even is one.
I purchased a generic Headphone Headset that works only via Bluetooth, and does so quite well with even the oldest crappiest cellphones that have Bluetooth capability.
Stereo, great fidelity for a Chinese no-name. Even has stereo mics in each earpiece, as well as remote fundtionality of the phone as far as redialing last number, or skipping or going back on music tracks. It's actually a great buy at 19.99, considering the fidelity, which could easily fool the most stuffy know-it-all audiophile into thinking they were made by Sennheiser. (made in China as well-Say goodbye to good old German superior audio.
So the problem is either Sony Vaio (my model VPCEA24FM), or Windows 7 or both. Broadcom or Widcom or whomever lays claim to the Bluetooth trademark, doesn't seem to care much at all, if this headset doesn't work with a 2 year old laptop, once considered top of the line.
I've tried downloading what is on the Broadcom website, and as I install it, it stops and says "Older version of this program found, please remove first". - Trying to ignore that hypocrisy, when any other update automatically takes care of things like that. - I went and searched anything remotely related to Bluetooth, and removed it. Tried installing it again. Same result.
Is Bluetooth basically an orphaned ward of the state? No support, no one cares.
I suppose I could buy a bluetooth dongle and that might do it, but anyone with technical expertise above mine, knows that it is ridiculous that I should have to resort to that.
So, any suggestions???
