Please help me with my speakers problems

Hello,
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. My external creative speaker have come up with problems. It shows that it is connected but i do not hear any sound. When i click on the speaker icon on the right corner of the screen it shows that green bar Name:  System-sound-volume-mixer-in-Windows-7.png

that means sound is working but i can't hear any sound... checked all settings... did everything still doesn't work.... My mother board and all is OK. What to do?
Please help.

Is the speakers are switched on? Some have hardware buttons on the back or sides.
