ASUS Xonar DGX 5.1 - Won't Install in Windows 7 Hello Everyone,
I recently bought an Asus Xonar DGX soundcard for an HTPC I'm building. Upon installing the card and booting into Windows 7, Windows recognized the card but was unable to install a driver for it.
Trying to then install the drivers (via both the CD driver and one I downloaded from the Asus website) I was greeted with the following error message, ""Please plug-in ASUS Xonar D2 Audio device." I tried moving the soundcard to a different PCI-express slot, but I was greeted with the same error.
At this point, I'm not sure why I am unable to install the soundcard on my Windows 7 install. Everything has been working correctly so far, so not sure if there is a driver issue or something that is wrong with the card itself.
If anyone could offer any additional assistance, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Disable the on-board audio, in the BIOS and then try installing it. The on-board needs to be disabled anyway and two sound cards can cause conflicts.
BTW, your profile and My System Specs list Vista. Also nothing in My System Specs except the wrong OS. You should list your hardware there as it helps someone to try and help you. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number My Own Build OS Windows 7, 64 bit Home SP1, Win 8 Pro 64 bit CPU Intel i7 3770 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 16GB GSkill Ripsaw F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL Graphics Card Sapphire HD7770 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2448 Series 24" LED Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Kensington wired Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620M Modular Case Coolermaster HAF XM Cooling Corsair H80 Liquid cooling with aftermarket Nexus quiet fans Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 SSD for Win 7

Thanks Firebird, I'll try to update my profile soon. In short, I am running Windows 7 (64bit) fresh install with an Nvidia Geforce 8800GT Graphics card, and 2 SATA HD's. (I know very generic, will try and put more details soon.)
I disabled the onboard Audio, and tried to reinstall the Asus sound card, but was greeted with the same error I pasted above. =(
Any other ideas? | My System Specs

Not sure what you mean for the sound-outlets, as right now I am just trying to get the card to detect and install correctly, so nothing is currently connected to it. | My System Specs

Any other ideas? I also have a Xonar but mine is the D2. It tends to have problems when the screw that holds it to the case doesn't go in exactly straight due to slight misalignment as the card goes into the PCI slot.
Try shutting down the system, unplug the power and push the start button to bleed off power.
Make sure that hole for the screw has it's hole lining up exactly with the one on the case.
If you need to tweak the Xonar card a bit in order to put in the screw, then leave the screw out and prop the card up with something to keep it level. This should get windows to see the card if the screw was not lined up correctly.
After that plug power back in an boot the system, with any luck Windows will now see the card so you can install the drivers. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home built OS Windows 7 Ult, Windows 8 Pro, CPU Q9650-4.275GHz, E8600 4.5GHz, E6750-3.8GHz Motherboard Evga 780i FTW Memory G.Skill PC2 9600 1200Mhz 5 5 5 15 2T Graphics Card GTX480 Sound Card Asus Xonar D2 Monitor(s) Displays HannsG Screen Resolution 1680X1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Logitech G9 PSU ThermalTake Toughpower 1000Watt modular Case ThermalTake XaserV Cooling Xigmatek S1283 Hard Drives GSkill Phoenix Pro 120GB SSD Internet Speed T1 |

Hey Chev65,
Still no good sir. If Windows has a hard time detecting the card, wouldn't it not even display the card in the device manager? It makes me think that it's at least seeing the card there.
Thanks again to everyone for your help so far. | My System Specs
