Windows 7: Sound barely audible all of a sudden. Out of ideas, PLEASE HELP

I'm confused. How can booting from my Windows CD help if the on-board component is damaged? I don't understand how this can help.

this is an especial windows that can start with your system boot, you can try Ubuntu before installing it. so just place the CD in the drive, set your bios to boot from the cd drive, and it will start Ubuntu an an individual os. there you can test your computer sound and see if the problem is related to your software or hardware,
ask any further question.
