trying to set the 16k column on the Realtek HD Audio

Hi friends,

First message for me there so i apologize for my english and digging the topic !

Yesterday i installed my new Windows 7 64 bits OS on my PC after the 32 bits i used for years.

I reinstalled drivers for my Realtek soundcard (Vista_Win7_Win8_R270.exe downloaded on the realtek website and even the 6305_Vista_PG537 to try it) and i have some difficulties using the equalizer whereas before I did not with the 32 bits.

Indeed when i'm trying to set the 16k column on the Realtek HD Audio, after entering my choice, the settings of the 16k column change and only for the 16k column !

I tried to register several presets but everytime it goes wrong changing the 16k.

Could you help me please ?

Thanks a lot

In most cases the sound driver from the PC Vendor (or motherboard vendor if this is a custom built) are the preferred sound drivers. Non Vendor drivers may not work or work correctly.

I checked mine, and although I don't use an EQ - I set mine flat - I can set whatever I want in my RealTek panel. As I have a Gigabyte motherboard, I'm using the Realtek drivers supplied by Gigabyte.

I have a recording studio and use my PC audio to check sound mixes and thus the reason I have mine set flat.

Its a function of your sound drivers. I see you have downloaded RealTek drivers from the RealTek site. As I mentioned the preferred drivers come from either your PC manufacturer or motherboard vendor, as applicable. I would try that first.

i tried to download it from HP website but it seems that the driver is too old.
i can't find the motherboard vendor (PEGATRON CORPORATION Benicia 1.01) on the web...
it's driving me crazy

HP would be the site, if there are drivers available. PC Vendors, many times have custom implementations and the reason for requiring the vendor drivers for proper operation.

But, this sounds like older hardware that has been upgraded to Windows 7. With no vendor support you are stuck with whatever drivers that will install. You may not get full functions, such as the 16K EQ, and will have to live with whatever you do get.

Can it be related to the no installation of the Service Pack 1 ?
