Hello after some time. Zia and Dave; well guys after exhausting all options i took it ot the vendor's warranty guys (local warranty) and they took two days and finally fixed it.

I asked the tech guy what was it and he said it was a virus that was not getting detected and then he said he mounted the Hd as a slave and then was able to remove the virus. So my laptop got fixed. However, now there is another thing bothering me. Nothing wrong with the laptop software or hardware- machine is fully restored.

the thing is I did not know of this hidden partition thing that acer uses never knew that. So I lost my genuine windows in the process but he said he recovered my genuine windows from the hidden partition and asked me to make recovery disks ASAP. Now when I try that through acer erecovery management it wont work and says hd configuration is not set to factory defualts. backup aborted.

I searched for this and people say that my PQservice partition has been over-written and the MBR file has hence been curropted. I tried to factory restore the laptop through alt-f10 but it wont work either... any fix for that please???

I dont want to loose my genuine windows and if something again happens I want to be able to restore my kaptop to factory settings but I cant make backup recovery acer disks as the process wont run unless HD is back to factory default configuration.... I also has partitioned the drive in past and then had repartitioned and merged two partitions etc... I think this and then installing windows etc might have messed up this pqservice or mbr whatever it is.....

    Help needed again guys!!!

    Hi Intel,

Glad you got it sorted in ther end.
But sounds like they didnt do a good job if your left with the issues you describe, sounds as if
your Recovery Partition has been deleted.
My advice would be to take it back to the vendor and let them sort it out.

But please post the following info:

Windows Genuine and Activation Issue Posting Instructions

And I will ask another member to take a look for you.

    Cheers

    Dave
