hi, not sure what strance audio is ,but did you try install drivers for your sound card/device
codex and players will not matter if device driver is not working

Strange audio issue - no sound from files

    Hi
    Thanks for responding.
Ye,sorry, 'Strance' was a typo , should have said 'Strange'.

It seems all drivers are up to date.
And the sound card is handling the streaming media without a problem its files that won't play and sound from CD/ DVD's vidieo will play without sound.

I'll upload a screenshot of my device manager in case something looks wrong there.

    Hey
You were right , I've installed some drivers - audio and chipset and the sounds back.
Although the device manager doesn't show any other audio devices - and yes I did have audio on streaming media. So still a bit strange.
    Anyway its working now .
    Thanks for your helpl
