    Creative Sound card problems

    ok here goes
I have read about 62 pages of threads looking for answers and tried the pinned post here about Creative sound cards
THIS is going to be a long one
I had this computer built for me and have basically had problems updating the drivers, program from day 1
Only change I made to this computer was I installed a creative Audigy Value 2 sound card to it.
I have the Logitech Z-5500 THX-Certified 5.1 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System
My problem is when I went to the website (Creative support) I found the correct updated driver but when I installed it some key features were missing...I tried and tried to research the problem but came up with no definitive answers, got the program to work (but IMHO never sounded nor worked as good as it did with my last system a XP OS).So I just settled.
I found windows 7 forums attempting to get help with a BSOD problem and the sound forum threads
I read the pinned thread by stormy13 on creative cards and went and installed the Audigy Support Pack for my card/system.Would not install. Then I tried the Audigy Support Pack 4.5 and lo n behold it worked! It returned some of the key features I lost last time (all except for Creative EAX console, see attached screenshot)
Also the center channel speaker will now only work on the PLII Music n Movie setting
Any advice, insight and direction greatly appreciated

Did the drivers install from Windows update?

I've owned a couple of recording PC's over the years with Audio cards such as M-Audio & RME Hammerfall.
The reason I ask is one machine was XP, and one was Windows 7, the XP machine worked like a dream. The Windows 7 machine gave me similar errors like you seem to be having.

I take it you've tried this link already, but in case you haven't.......

I cannot remember IF I uninstalled the old application and drivers for the on-board previous card.
    Maybe this is my problem
    Device manager shows 3 drivers
gonna try uninstalling everything and a fresh re-install
    thanks for the info

Don't panic. Do you have any yellow exclamation marks in device manager?

The drivers for the sound card, are they from the original installation disk, if so then I suggest going to the manufacturers website to see if the drivers have been updated.

I did the above SEVERAL times
    No yellow exclamation marks

Unfortunately the original installation disc got damaged beyond use,I have the updated driver info and files in a .rar file
This coupled with a current crash problem MAKES me want to panic
    lol

OK, remove all Creative drivers using device manager and download drivers from the link I gave you above. (If that's the correct card of course) Make sure you select ' Windows 7 x64' drivers.

I know many Creative card users have burst blood vessels over this problem, remain calm, you'll sort it.

I already removed all sound drivers and files etc using device manager and drive sweeper
It is only showing 2 High Definition Device (the ones that Windows keeps auto installing) in device manager
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy series driver 2.18.0017
Is the one I am trying to install :)
Yes I have read some forums/posts on it
    I'm kool
    lol
    for now....
