Don't take offense, but have you done all the dummy check stuff? Like ensuring that the system volume is not muted, the volume is set to an appropriate level I prefer MAX!

Have you ever had sound from the speakers?

can you also go to control panel, and see if you have a smartaudio icon, my lenovo doesnt use realtek.
if you have the smartaudio then see what the settings are in there, also you may have to select the conextant smartaudio device as default .
right click the speaker icon in the systems tray, and select playback devices, click the conextant smartaudio then click set default.

hello. thank you for the offensive remind. well. i think it's working now
i have a program called softonic with realtek updates but it has failed to download it says uncompatibility or smth like that

sorry i am a noob at sound cards and sound checks but i checked control panel and i found nothing that helped about sound

i use seagate and it updated all my programs 2 days ago. i mean its an external hard drive. it just backed up my pc. today i checked the sound and it worked..i dont know why it works it just started working. maybe someone came and touched it. i dont know

but the thing is i dont know to fix it in the future. it often fails. and sometimes i use the sound phones and when i take it out it stops working...so strange

ok so sound works. i am using different headphones now, before i was using some philips headphones

one thing is not working now is the touchpad. i am using lenovo y460p and normally the touchpad works

it hasnt been working for 3 months or more...idk how to fix it i tried dling from the internet it doesnt work

You think?...that's not a good sign. Glad that your sound is working for now but do this:

    Open the start menu
Select "Computer" in the right menu
At the top of the window that opens click system properties
All your basic System info should be displayed

ok, lets try make this a little more understandable.
    firstly follow these steps.

1- click the start menu button.

2- type device manager in the search box, click the device manager when it shows in the search result

3- in the device manager window look for the "sound, video and game controllers" section, click the little arrow beside it to expand the tree and see what it says, it will either say realtek or conexant .

once we have established which sound card you have we can move on to the control panel,

open the control panel and change the view to large items, you do this by clicking the dropdown arrow at the top right of the control panel window where it says "view by".

when you can see all the icons you need to look for realtek audio hd manager or words to that effect. or if you have conexant then look for the smartaudio icon
in there will be the settings for your soundcard,

in addition to this you should see your soundcard by right clicking the speaker icon on the systems tray (bottom right of the taskbar)
when you right click the speaker then click playback devices , there will a sound window opens and you will see your soundcard there ,click on it to highlight it and then click set default.

if possible could you do a screenshot of the sound window and post it here for us to get a better understanding.
here is a tutorial how to upload a screenshot to the forum.
