laptop picking up unwanted background audio

Everytime I use my laptop when the router is turned on,I constantly get background advertisements in audio only, they can be advertising anything from a product to SKY news or BBC news.I have to put my volume in mute all the time. This happens even when I have not got a Google web page open and even when I am playing a game,I have this happening.
What is causing it and what can I do to stop it?
This started a week or so ago.
It is driving me insane, please help!

Sounds like RFI (Radio Frequency Interference). Are you close or relatively close to a commercial radio (or TV) broadcast station?

    Weird...

So this can happen with no web pages open whatsoever?

I truly am stumped, but what you can try is to go into your browser, whichever one you use, and delete all of your internet history (temp files, history, cookies, etc.)

I'm not sure what browser you are using but in IE, go to Settings>Internet Options and delete the browsing history.

Just a stab in the dark here, but I guess an easy place to start.

There is some RFI signal that is being introduced. Whether its through the mains to the Laptop or the router, or cabling.

Does this happen if the laptop is used only with battery and the charger is not connected?

I think your location might help us here but although you have the Union Flag your time zone is set to USA? If you are in the UK you could PM me with your town of residence. I can then check out any near transmitters! Also how are you connected to the router, by cable or wireless?

With "Sky News" and "BBC News" I would suspect the user is in the UK

It's possible you have contracted a virus. Some are known to randomly play music and other audio. The stdrt.exe virus is one example.

Thank you all for your comments.I am based in Dudley,West Midlands in the UK.
Even when the charger is not attached,it happens.I am using a wireless router.
I will try the internet history delete, and also run an anti virus scan.

Before trying anything else can you connect to the router using a cable and switch the wireless connection off?
