Can't set Independent Headphones as default device

Hi.

I want to select Independent Headphones as the default output device because it sounds much better than Speakers and Headphones. I can use the Independent Headphones output with WMP (I had to select it as the default device in tools, and change the output to CD quality to make it work), and the sound quality difference is very noticeable to me.

Now let me clarify, I can hear sound out of my headphones when Speakers and Headphones is playing (I can tell which output it's using from the real-time output monitor in Sound) but it sounds crappy. And I'm unable to set the Independent Headphones as the default device. I listen to SiriusXM Internet radio and I can't figure out a way to use the Independent Headphones output online. Here's some more information:
  • I use Google Chrome browser
  • If I don't select CD quality as the Independent Headphones default format, WMP refuses to play through that output (error message: no sound device)
  • Speakers and Headphones can be disabled when I listen to music in WMP and I hear the good-quality Independent Headphones output
  • At the same time, if I try to listen in Google Chrome when Speakers and Headphones is disabled, no sound comes from the headphones (this is because I don't know how to make Chrome use the default output device "Independent Headphones"

Thanks for your help in advance.

Kind Regards,
Joshua
