Editing the sound in Control panel

    meebers,

    In addition, double check in the registry location in OPTION TWO below to see if there may be an entry for "Avast" and it's sounds events.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps

    Sounds - Change

    If so, post a screenshot showing it for us to verify first, but deleting the registry key for it should remove it if there.

    Yep, that's the culprit.

    Delete the Avast key in your screenshot, and that'll remove it. You may or may not need to log off and log on to apply.

    You may need to Log Off and Log On in order for the Registry change to take effect (or just restart, whichever you prefer).

    Holy Crap-o-lee!! that did it. You get extra points for that one... Did not have to log off/on. Thank you very much!
