is there a PC app that can identify a music track on youtube?

Hi all, I have seen that there are apps for identifying music for android etc - does such a thing exist for the PC? There is a piece of music - instrumental - on a youtube video that I want to buy. I have asked the person who put the video on what the title is, but received no reply.

In Win 9x you used to be able to extract the music file from IE temp files - can I do that with Firefox do you know?

thank you
ps have found something called Tunatic. not sure how to use it - do I just play the song in my headphones? A user of that app says it is tied mostly to popular songs and so does not have other types of music listed in the current database, so it may not be of any help. I think the piece I want to identify is probably an instrumental from film music - it has a Hans Zimmer feel to it.

well, I have it on my system now. I used something called Youtube Music Downloader (suprise!), which can extract the music from the vid, download and convert it. It did exactly that and I am listening to it now - but I still do not know the title so cannot buy it, which is annoying as I reckon this is only part of a greater piece - but I HAVE it, so happy bunny.

Oh, that's a disappointment. Just uploaded the file to audiotag, felt sure it would know - but it doesn't ( sigh...)

How about a link to the video? Someone here may know the song.

If you already have the Youtube video downloaded and have extracted the audio, try this from MediaArea.net.
I downloaded the video from Youtube with Free Youtube Download from Free Studio Manager and it worked.

MediaInfo adds a right-click context option for vids/audio tracks/jpg's, etc.

Here is the download link for MediaInfo:MediaInfo_GUI_0.7.61_Windows.exe <- MediaInfo Downloads | Software - Digital Digest

Download link for Free Studio Manager is: Free software: video converter, ipod converter, mp4 converter

Hope this helps. F14tomcat...

I have used Tunatic before. It's pretty simple to use but you need speakers and a microphone. You let the music play thru the speakers and let Tunatic listen via the microphone. I can't say that it will recognize the song you are trying to ID but I used it when ripping LPs to mp3s and it had a pretty good track record of recognizing the songs and albums.

I tried 2 apps that I have on my Android phone, Shazam and SoundHound, neither could ID the music.

I also tried Tunatic, it IDed the song as "Gadjo - So Many Times". I personally can't tell if it's the same song, the Gadjo version is electronic and I'm not musically gifted. I'll let others make the call.
